Oakland's Mercury 20 Gallery presents its out-with-the-old /in-with-the-New Year group show Retrograde: New Work at Mercury 20, an overview of recent painting, sculpture, photography, drawing and mixed media by East Bay artists. The works in this show review an intense period encompassing collapse, confusion, hope and change, and reflect on the underlying patterns that came to light.

We are especially pleased to present the work of five artists new to the gallery in 2008: Eric Bohr, Chela Fielding, Aaron Geman, Jill McLennan, and Mary Curtis Ratcliff, as well as the work of our continuing members: Julie Alvarado, Jo Ann Biagini, Margaret Chavigny, Peter Honig, Ce Ce Iandoli, Maya Kabat, Kathleen King, Tarra Lyons, Mary V. Marsh, Charlie Milgrim, Jamie Morgan, David Seiler, Laura Van Duren, Anna Vaughan and Joan Weiss.

Mercury 20 is an artist-run exhibition space located in the heart of downtown Oakland; part of the emerging arts district in the Broadway/Telegraph corridor.

Gallery hours are Fridays 4 – 7pm and Saturdays 12 noon – 3pm, or by appointment.
